What is the difference between Coaches, Counsellors, Psychotherapists, Psychologists and Psychiatrists?This is a common question and deserves a good explanation. All these professions offer a range of services to support your mental health and well-being. While the services often overlap, each profession brings unique experience, training and expertise to their work. Executive Coach: Coaches partner with leaders and high-performing individuals to: Enhance leadership skills and effectiveness Improve communication and interpersonal dynamics Navigate career transitions and challenges Achieve greater clarity, focus, and goal attainment Unlock their full potential and drive organisational success They do not often work on mental health challenges beyond workplace stress and dynamics. Counsellors: Counsellors provide short-term support (typically up to 6 months) to help you address a variety of challenges, including but not limited to: Stress, anxiety, and depression Relationship issues Grief and loss Life transitions and adjustments Trauma Unhelpful thoughts and behaviors Counselling focuses on practical solutions, coping strategies, and building resilience to improve your current well-being. Psychotherapists: Psychotherapy delves deeper into long-standing patterns and underlying psychological processes that may be contributing to your challenges. It is a longer-term process (3 months to several years) that can help you: Gain insight into unconscious patterns and their impact on your life Address deep-seated emotional wounds and trauma Develop healthier relationship patterns Achieve lasting personal growth Psychologists: Registered psychologists offer a range of services, including: Assessment: Comprehensive psychological evaluations to identify specific concerns and guide treatment. Therapy: Evidence-based therapies for a wide range of mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and more. Specialised Services: We have psychologists specialising in areas such as child and adolescent development, learning difficulties, and neuropsychological assessment. Psychiatrists: Psychiatrists are medical doctors specialising in mental health. They provide: Diagnosis: Assessment and diagnosis of mental health disorders. Medication Management: Prescribing and monitoring psychiatric medications when appropriate. Therapy: Some psychiatrists also offer therapy in conjunction with medication management. They will often work hand in hand with Psychologists and Psychotherapists to provide a holistic care for clients mental health.

Can I claim on private health insurance?Yes you can. We are happy to offer our clients with the following health funds, ahm and ARHG (encompassing St Luke's Health, Police Health, GMHBA, Westfund, Emergency Services Health, Phoenix Health, CUA Health, AIA Health, and Teachers Union Health) We are adding HCF, Bupa and Medibank Private soon. Please keep in touch and we'll let you know when this is available.

Do you provide services for NDIS clients?Yes, we cater for Self-Managed and Plan-Managed NDIS packages. NDIA managed plans will soon be able to access our services as we become a registered NDIS provider.

What is your cancellation policy?We operate a busy practice with waitlisted clients. We ask that you give us a minimum of 48 hours notice if you need to reschedule your appointment and 5 days notice for equine assisted psychotherapy sessions. If you cancel within the allotted notice period, you may be charged a cancellation fee. But don't worry, we will send you an email and an SMS reminder of your appointment prior.

Do you offer telehealth or video sessions?Yes, we offer in-person, telehealth and video sessions for your convenience.

How long will my sessions be and how often do I need them?We offer 60 and 90 minute sessions depending on the degree of difficulty you are experiencing and your degree of urgency etc. Together we will assess the duration of time needed between appointments to digest and implement changes. This is something we will collaborate on together.

What should I bring with me?Bring yourself! Also if you need a support object or whatever makes you comfortable, please feel free to bring it.

Do you offer equine therapy?Yes we do. It is one of the areas we specialise in and offer an Equine Clinic in the beautiful Sunshine Coast township of Maleny.
